Repoussée de deux mois en raison du Covid-19, la cérémonie des Oscars s’est déroulée le dimanche 25 avril. La France repart avec trois statuettes.
Florian Zeller écrivain de 41 ans adapte pour le cinéma sa pièce Le Père. Il s’est vu attribuer l’oscar de la meilleure adaptation de scénario.
Il a assisté à la retransmission de la cérémonie des Oscars depuis Paris, où il a expliqué avoir « écrit ce scénario pour Anthony Hopkins », « le plus grand acteur vivant ».
Le Français, Nicolas Becker, a reçu un Oscar pour le meilleur mixage son dans le film Sound of Silence, qui raconte la plongée d’un musicien dans la surdité.
Anthony Giacchino, reçoit le prix du meilleur court-métrage documentaire, pour Colette. Ce film raconte l’histoire de Colette Marin-Catherine, son périple depuis Caen jusqu’au camp de concentration de Dora en Allemagne.
Un trés beau défilé de tenues et robes époustouflantes également .Des robes de grands couturiers et grandes maisons pour des actrices hollywoodiennes .

La cérémonie des Oscars récompense l’excellence dans l’industrie du cinéma américain et international depuis 1929. Son nom original était Academy Awards, elle est surnommée « Oscar » depuis 1934. Le trophée représente un chevalier sur un socle, debout sur une bobine de film et tenant une épée dans ses mains gantées, il a été sculpté par Georges Stanley. Les premières statuettes sont en bronze plaqué d’or puis durant la seconde guerre mondial les métaux sont réquisitionnés, les prix distribués sont des moulages en plâtre peints, aujourd’hui elles sont constituées de britannium (alliage d’étain, d’antimoine et de cuivre), plaqué d’or.
On doit l’attribution de ce surnom à Bette Davis, dont le premier mari, Harmon Oscar Nelson, ressemblait d’après elle à la statuette.
Le surnom ne fut officiellement adopté par l’Académie qu’en 1939.
